The edges of the painting are untreated birch wood (like the panel itself) to give a raw effect to the piece, in opposition to the very worked main surface that is varnished with resin epoxy. The resin gives a shiny look and feel. The entire composition gives the painting a modern, sleek, and mysterious, enchanting look.
